As an orthopedic surgeon focused on minimally invasive surgical techniques, Dr. Kevin Crawford's expertise includes arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow with an emphasis on advanced arthroscopic techniques. In 2004, Dr. Crawford was asked to serve as a U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Physician and currently holds the position of Medical Director for Texas Tech Athletics.

Dr. Robert Randolph King has been in the practice of medicine in Lubbock, Texas, since 1980. He attended Coronado High School and Texas Tech University. Abbie Simpson, PA-C, joined Lubbock Sports Medicine in the summer of 2018. Abbie attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science in 2014. She then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Physician Assistant program in Galveston, TX and graduated with her Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2016.
Abbie spent her first two years as a PA working for UMC Physicians in Urgent Care. Abbie now works closely with Dr. King and is involved in all aspects of patient care including office visits, assisting in surgery, and hospital care. Abbie and her husband, Sean, live in Lubbock and enjoy the outdoors and traveling.
Dr. Shephard is an orthopaedic surgeon committed to the reconstruction of arthritic joints. He is focused on the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and all other forms of joint destruction by means of surgical preservation and replacement of affected joints. In a recent effort to focus on providing the most modern treatment options he has completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Manny Hernandez, PA-C
A familiar face, Manny Hernandez rejoins Lubbock Sports Medicine as a Physician Assistant for Dr. Kevin Crawford after serving a number of years as a clinical coordinator/athletic trainer previously. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota’s Physician Assistant Program and also holds a Master’s of Athletic Training Degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. His background in sports medicine and unique experiences help provide more insight into athletic and orthopedics injuries for all ages. Manny works in conjunction with Dr. Crawford to create comprehensive treatment plans to ensure optimal care is delivered for all patients. He is dedicated to offering minimally invasive treatment options for a myriad of orthopedic conditions. Along with his wife, Jessica who is a family nurse practitioner, Manny holds a special interest in medical missionary work.
